St Aloysius College Harihar celebrates 'Go Green Week'

Davanagere, Jul 31: The slogan 'Go Green' is seen and heard everywhere, but so many people do not understand why go green. In order to spread awareness, St Aloysius College, Harihar celebrated 'Go Green' week from July 25 to 30. As part of the mission several activities were conducted during the week to encourage students and spread awareness to society.

The first day of the week started with inauguration by naming the plants (scientific name) of the campus, which was done successfully by the student representatives and management. White was dress code on that day in order to show purity. A mime competition in the quadrangle was conducted and the theme was 'the relationship between humans and trees'. To communicate through silence is a link between the thoughts of man, where the art of mime encompasses all the feelings of the soul.

In the competition, students participated actively. Six teams participated and based on their creativity and presentation the best groups won prizes.

The second day a drawing competition on the theme 'save water' was organised. Rangoli competition on the theme 'save earth' was also organised. On this day the dress code was blue. Students were very happy and enthusiastic to participate in both the competitions. The thoughts of the students on how to save water and mother earth were seen through their art. The best art was recognized and appreciated.

Herbalism is based on relationship, relationship between plants and human, plants and planet, human and planet. On the third day the dress code was yellow. On that day We herbal plants were brought to the garden.

On the fourth day students of St Aloysius College along with the lecturers walked into the villages (Jay Bheema Nagar) in order to distribute the saplings. The dress code was green. Around 50 students participated in the procession holding placards and slogans representing the importance of mother nature. Every student was asked to bring saplings from their home in order to distribute it to the villagers. The saplings brought a broad smile on the faces of the villagers. Villagers appreciated the work done by the college. They also visited a government school of that village and distributed saplings. The villagers promised that they will take care of the saplings very well. St Aloysius College succeeded in creating awareness about nature to the villagers.

In nature there is something marvellous. On the last day, a poetry writing competition was organised on the theme 'The Nature'. Nature always wears the colours of the spirit. The dress code for the day was pink for girls and red for boys. 15 students participated in the competition and the best poem was awarded a prize.

The one-week programme was organised in order to spread awareness and it was a great success. By organising these kinds of awareness programmes St Aloysius College provides service to society and mother nature.
